Introduction
The VCNL4030X01 integrates a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and high-power IR emitter in a compact package. It combines a photodiode, amplifier, and A/D conversion circuitry on a single chip using CMOS process technology. The 16-bit high-resolution ambient light sensor delivers excellent sensing capability with multiple options to meet the requirements of most applications, whether featuring dark or highly transparent lens designs. Both the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor provide programmable interrupt functionality with independent high and low thresholds, helping to reduce MCU power consumption. The proximity sensor employs an intelligent cancellation scheme to effectively eliminate crosstalk. Its smart persistence function prevents false triggering in proximity sensing while maintaining fast response times. Active force mode, triggered by a single command, offers greater design flexibility to accommodate different application types and achieve lower power consumption. Filtron technology enables ambient light spectral sensitivity that closely matches the human eye's response, along with excellent background light rejection capability. The device provides outstanding temperature compensation to ensure stable output across temperature variations. Both the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor functions can be easily operated via a simple I²C interface protocol command format. The operating voltage range is 2.5 V to 3.6 V. The VCNL4030X01 is offered in a lead-free 8-pin QFN package.
