Introduction
The LM131/231/331 series are highly versatile precision voltage-to-frequency converters, ideal for building simple, low-cost analog-to-digital converters, long-integration-period digital integrators, linear frequency modulation and demodulation circuits, and a wide variety of other functional circuits. When used as a V/F converter, the output pulse train frequency varies precisely in proportion to the voltage applied at the input, demonstrating the inherent advantages of V/F conversion. They can be readily applied in all standard V/F conversion applications. The LM131A/231A/331A achieves higher accuracy and temperature stability. Other V/F converter modules with equivalent temperature stability are significantly more expensive. In addition, the LM131/231/331 series is suitable for low-voltage digital systems, serving as a low-cost ADC in microprocessor-based control systems. Furthermore, this conversion approach offers particularly convenient interfacing when used with optocouplers. Thanks to the built-in temperature-compensated bandgap reference, the device operates with high accuracy across the entire operating temperature range from a supply voltage as low as 4.0V. The internal precision timer circuit maintains full response to 100kHz V/F conversion even at very low bias currents. The LM131/231/331 series output can drive three TTL loads, and the output terminal can withstand voltage surges up to 40V.
