TL16C752D is a dual-channel UART featuring 64-byte FIFOs and automatic hardware/software flow control, supporting data transfer rates up to 3Mbps. The device provides an enhanced magnetic field sensing solution. It incorporates a Transmission Control Register (TCR) that stores received FIFO threshold levels to assert or deassert transmission during hardware and software flow control.

With the FIFO RDY register, software can obtain the TXRDY or RXRDY status of both ports in a single access. On-chip status registers provide error indication, operational status, and modem interface control. System interrupts can be customized to user requirements. An internal loopback capability supports on-board diagnostics. The TL16C752D integrates two UARTs, each with its own register set and FIFO.

The two UARTs share only the data bus interface and clock source, operating independently in all other respects. The UART function is also referred to as an Asynchronous Communications Element (ACE); these two terms are used interchangeably.
