Introduction
The SimpleLink™ CC2642R-Q1 device is an AEC-Q100 qualified wireless microcontroller (MCU) designed for low-power Bluetooth 5 automotive applications. This device is optimized for low-power wireless communication in applications such as automotive access control, including passive entry and passive start (PEPS) and remote keyless entry (RKE), car sharing, guided parking, cable replacement, and smartphone connectivity. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 features: LE coded PHY (long range), LE 2Mb PHY (high speed), advertising extensions, multiple advertising sets, CSA#2, as well as backward compatibility with and support for Bluetooth 5 and earlier low-power specifications. A fully qualified Bluetooth 5.2 software protocol stack is included in the SimpleLink™ CC13xx and CC26xx software development kit (SDK), enabling angle of arrival (AoA). It offers longer battery life for wireless applications with a low standby current of 0.94μA and full RAM retention. It is AEC-Q100 qualified, providing a Grade 2 temperature range (-40°C to +105°C) and comes in a 7mm x 7mm VQFN package with wettable flanks. A software-controlled dedicated radio controller (Arm® Cortex®-M0) provides flexible low-power RF transceiver functionality, supporting multiple physical layers and RF standards (such as real-time location system (RTLS) technology). It has excellent radio sensitivity and robustness (selectivity and blocking) performance, suitable for low-power Bluetooth (-105dBm at 125kbps LE coded PHY). The CC2642R-Q1 device is part of the SimpleLink™ MCU platform, which includes Wi-Fi, low-power Bluetooth, Thread, Zigbee, Sub-1GHz MCUs, and host MCUs. They share a common and user-friendly development environment that includes a single-core software development kit (SDK) and a rich set of tools. With the once-and-for-all integrated SimpleLink™ platform, any combination of devices from the product portfolio can be added to your design, enabling 100% code reuse when design requirements change.
