Introduction
The low-cost AM62x Sitara MPU series of application processors are built specifically for Linux application development. With scalable Arm Cortex-A53 performance and embedded features such as dual display support and 3D graphics acceleration, as well as a wide range of peripherals, the AM62x devices are well-suited for a broad spectrum of industrial and automotive applications, while also offering intelligent features and an optimized power architecture. Some of these applications include: industrial HMIs, electric vehicle charging stations, contactless building access control, and driver monitoring systems.
The 13mm×13mm package (ALW) models of the AM62x Sitara processors are industrial-grade processors, while the 17.2mm×17.2mm package (AMC) models meet the AEC-Q100 automotive standard. The integrated Cortex-M4F cores and dedicated peripherals can be used to meet industrial and automotive functional safety requirements, and these cores and peripherals can be isolated from the rest of the AM62x processor.
The 3-port Gigabit Ethernet switch has one internal port and two external ports, supporting Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). The additional PRU module on the device provides real-time I/O capabilities for customers' own use cases.
In addition, the AM62x contains a large number of peripherals for system-level connectivity, such as USB, MMC/SD, camera interfaces, OSPI, CAN-FD, and GPMC, which are used to connect the host interface in parallel to external ASICs/FPGAs.
The AM62x devices also support secure boot through a built-in Hardware Security Module (HSM) for IP protection and offer advanced power management support for portable and power-sensitive applications.
Applications
- Human Machine Interface (HMI)
- Retail Automation
- Driver Monitoring System (DMS/OMS) / In-Cabin Monitoring (ICM)
- Telematics Control Unit (TCU)
- 3D Point Cloud
- Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2V) / Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X)
- 3D Reconfigurable Automotive Instrument Cluster
