Introduction
The ADS131M06 is a six-channel, synchronous-sampling, 24-bit, Δ-Σ ADC with wide dynamic range, low power consumption, and energy metering-specific features, making it well-suited for energy metering, power measurement, and circuit breaker applications. The ADC inputs can be connected directly to resistor divider networks or power transformers for voltage measurement, or to current transformers or Rogowski coils for current measurement. Individual ADC channels can be independently configured for their sensor inputs. A low-noise, programmable gain amplifier (PGA) provides gains from 1 to 128 to amplify low-level signals. In addition, the device integrates inter-channel phase calibration, offset, and gain calibration registers to help eliminate signal chain errors. The device integrates a low-drift, 1.2V reference to reduce PCB area. Optional CRC on data input, data output, and register maps ensures communication integrity. The complete AFE is available in a 32-pin TQFP package or a leadless 32-pin WQFN package, rated for an industrial temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.
