Introduction
The ADS131M02 is a two-channel, synchronous-sampling, 24-bit, Δ-Σ ADC with wide dynamic range, low power consumption, and energy measurement-specific features, making it ideal for energy metering, power metering, and circuit breaker applications. The ADC inputs can be connected directly to resistor divider networks or power transformers for voltage measurement, or to current transformers, shunts, or Rogowski coils for current measurement. Individual ADC channels can be independently configured for each sensor input. A low-noise, programmable gain amplifier (PGA) provides gains from 1 to 128 to amplify low-level signals. In addition, the device integrates inter-channel phase calibration, offset, and gain calibration registers to help eliminate signal chain errors. The device integrates a low-drift, 1.2V reference to reduce PCB area. Optional CRC in the data input, data output, and register map ensures communication integrity. The complete AFE is available in a 20-pin TSSOP package or a leadless 20-pin WQFN package, rated for an industrial temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.
