Introduction
LMX2820 is a high-performance wideband synthesizer capable of generating any frequency from 45MHz to 22.6GHz. The high-performance PLL features a figure of merit of -236dBc/Hz and a high phase detector frequency, enabling ultra-low in-band noise and integrated jitter. The high-speed N-divider eliminates the prescaler, significantly reducing both the amplitude and count of spurs. A programmable input multiplier is also included to mitigate integer boundary spurs. LMX2820 allows users to synchronize the outputs of multiple devices, and also supports applications requiring deterministic delay between input and output. A fast calibration algorithm greatly reduces VCO calibration time, supporting systems that require fast frequency hopping. LMX2820 can generate or repeat JESD204B-compliant SYSREF, making it suitable as a low-noise clock source for high-speed data converters. The synthesizer is compatible with an external VCO, and a direct PFD input pin is provided to support offset mixing for low-spur transmission. The device operates from a single 3.3V supply and features an integrated LDO, eliminating the need for an on-board low-noise LDO.
