Introduction
TEA2017AAT is a digitally configurable LLC and PFC combination controller for high-efficiency resonant power supplies. It integrates both LLC controller and PFC controller functions. The PFC can be configured to operate in DCM/QR, CCM fixed-frequency, or multi-mode supporting all operating modes to optimize PFC efficiency. Using the TEA2017AAT, a complete resonant power supply can be designed with a simple design approach and minimal external component count. The TEA2017AAT is available in a thin narrow-body SO16 package. The TEA2017AAT digital architecture is based on a high-speed configurable hardware state machine, ensuring highly reliable real-time performance. During power supply development, multiple operating and protection settings of the LLC and PFC controllers can be adjusted by writing new settings into the device to meet specific application requirements. The configuration can be fully protected against unauthorized copying of TEA2017AAT proprietary configuration content. In contrast to conventional resonant topologies, the TEA2017AAT employs an LLC low-power mode to maintain very high efficiency at light loads. This mode operates in the power region between continuous switching (also known as high-power mode) and burst mode. Since the TEA2017AAT regulates the LLC output voltage via the bulk capacitor voltage, accurate information about the power delivered to the output is available. The measured output power determines the operating mode (burst mode, low-power mode, or high-power mode). The transition points between different operating modes can be easily written into the device. The TEA2017AAT incorporates comprehensive protections including OTP, OCP, OVP, OPP, OLP, and CMR. All of these protections can be configured independently and precisely. The device integrates low-voltage and high-voltage silicon technologies for high-voltage startup, integrated drivers, level shifters, protection circuitry, and ZVS assurance circuits. The TEA2017AAT/TEA2095T combination enables easy design of highly efficient and reliable power supplies delivering 90W to 1000W with very few external components. The system provides very low no-load input power (Ω<75mW; entire system including the TEA2017AAT/TEA2095T combination), maintaining high efficiency from minimum to maximum load. The power supply complies with energy efficiency regulations including Energy Star, U.S. DOE, EU Ecodesign Directive, EU Code of Conduct, and various other guidelines. As a result, any auxiliary low-power supply can be omitted.
