The OV10640 is the automotive industry's first image sensor to utilize backside illumination (BSI) technology, delivering superior sensitivity. The sensor employs OmniVision's proprietary OmniHDR-S™ technology to achieve up to 120 dB HDR in a highly compact automotive-grade package, making it an ideal solution for a range of ADAS applications, including 360° surround view, rear view, machine vision, blind spot detection, and lane departure warning. The sensor's 4.2 µm OmniBSI™ pixels enable capture of high-resolution 1.3-megapixel images and video at 60 fps. The OV10640 leverages advanced OmniHDR-S technology to implement split-pixel and interleaved HDR, enabling simultaneous rather than sequential scene sampling — minimizing motion artifacts under the most demanding and challenging lighting conditions while delivering superior image quality in RAW output. In addition, the OV10640 incorporates safety mechanisms to meet the functional safety objectives required by ISO 26262. The sensor is offered in a 7.4 mm × 7.2 mm aCSP™ package and is compliant with AEC-Q100 Grade 2.
