Introduction
The ULN2003 and ULN2004 are high-voltage, high-current Darlington arrays, each containing seven open-collector Darlington pairs with a common emitter. Each channel is rated at 500 mA and can handle peak currents of 600 mA. Integrated suppression diodes are included for driving inductive loads, and input pins are arranged opposite output pins to simplify PCB layout. These devices interface with all common logic families: the ULN2003 is designed for 5 V TTL and CMOS logic, while the ULN2004 supports 6 ~ 15 V CMOS and PMOS logic. These versatile devices are suitable for driving a wide range of loads, including solenoids, relays, DC motors, LED displays, filament lamps, thermal printheads, and high-power buffers. The ULN2003/2004 are available in 16-pin plastic DIP packages with copper lead frames for reduced thermal resistance. They are also offered in SOP-16 as the ULN2003D/2004D.
