Introduction
LM2940 is a cost-effective LDO IC capable of delivering 1A output current across the full operating temperature range, with a typical dropout voltage of 0.5V and a maximum dropout voltage not exceeding 1V. When the differential between input and output voltage exceeds 3V, an internal quiescent current reduction circuit activates to limit total quiescent current consumption within the specified value. For automotive applications, the LM2940 also features reverse battery protection, immunity to 2× battery voltage transients, as well as output short-circuit protection, over-temperature protection, and overvoltage protection.
