Introduction
The LM385 is a micropower bandgap voltage reference fabricated using bipolar process technology. It delivers a stable voltage reference over an operating current range of 10µA to 20mA, featuring very low dynamic impedance and excellent temperature stability. An on-chip reference trim mechanism ensures minimal output voltage tolerance. Since the bandgap reference components in the LM385 consist solely of transistors and resistors, the circuit exhibits very low noise and excellent long-term stability. The LM385 has been designed to address issues encountered under various load conditions, offering high adaptability to external loads and making it suitable for the vast majority of voltage reference applications. Its wide dynamic operating range allows the device to maintain excellent regulation even under large supply voltage variations. While providing a precision reference, the LM385 requires only minimal quiescent current, making it particularly well-suited for micropower circuits as a voltage reference in battery-powered portable instruments, regulated power supplies, and general-purpose analog circuits. The LM385 is available in two fixed-voltage versions: 1.2V (LM385-1.2) and 2.5V (LM385-2.5). Standard package options include TO-92, SOT-23, SOP-8, and MSOP-8.
Features
- ±4mV (±0.3%) maximum initial tolerance (Grade A)
- Operating current: 10µA~20mA
- 0.6Ω maximum dynamic impedance (Grade A)
- Low temperature coefficient
Applications
Low-power circuits, battery-powered portable instruments, regulated power supplies, general-purpose analog circuits
