Introduction
Both the ISO1640 and ISO1641 (ISO164x) devices are low-power bidirectional hot-swap isolators compatible with the I²C interface. The ISO164x complies with the UL 1577 standard, supporting an isolation rating of 5000V RMS in a 16-DW package and 3000V RMS in an 8-D package. Each isolation channel of this low-radiation device features a logic input and an open-drain output isolated by a dual-capacitor silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation gate. The series includes basic and enhanced isolation rating devices that have been certified by VDE, UL, CSA, TUV, and CQC. The ISO1640 has two isolated bidirectional channels for the clock and data lines respectively, while the ISO1641 has one bidirectional data channel and one unidirectional clock channel. The ISO164x series integrates the logic required for bidirectional channels, offering a simpler design and a smaller size compared to optocoupler-based solutions.
