Introduction
IRS9103A is a low-cost, compact laser diode driver IC optimized for indirect time-of-flight (ToF) image sensors, supporting high modulation frequencies and efficient conversion of electrical energy to optical energy. This laser driver is designed for automotive-grade applications and is perfectly matched with the REAL3™ image sensor family. The IRS9103A is not limited to indirect ToF applications — it can also serve as a general-purpose low-side laser driver for voltage-mode topologies.

- Fast switching of laser diodes, e.g. in time-of-flight systems
- Laser (typically VCSEL) current up to 10 A
- Laser voltage up to 14 V (supports dual- and triple-junction VCSELs)
- Fast rise and fall times < 1 ns
- Modulation frequency up to 130 MHz
- Switch on-resistance < 120 mΩ
- External LVDS termination resistor allows daisy-chaining of multiple devices
- Built-in fail-safe features:
- LVDS input state always defined
- Thermal shutdown
- Undervoltage lockout
- Pulse width limiter ensures maximum on-time below 5 μs
- Supply voltage 3.3 V
- 1.35 x 1.35 mm PG-WFWLB-9-21 package
- AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualified (ambient temperature -40°C ~ 105°C)
