Introduction
The LM385 is a micropower bandgap voltage reference fabricated using bipolar process technology. This device delivers a stable voltage reference over an operating current range of 10μA to 20mA, featuring very low dynamic resistance and excellent temperature stability. An on-chip reference trimming circuit ensures minimal output voltage tolerance. Since the bandgap reference core of the LM385 consists solely of transistors and resistors, the circuit exhibits low noise and outstanding long-term stability. The device is designed to accommodate a wide range of load conditions, making the LM385 highly adaptable to external loads and suitable for the vast majority of voltage reference applications. Its wide dynamic operating range enables excellent regulation performance even under significant supply voltage variations. The LM385 draws only minimal quiescent current while providing a precision reference, making it particularly well-suited for micropower circuits such as battery-powered portable instruments, regulated power supplies, and voltage references in general-purpose analog circuits. The device is available in three variants: fixed 1.2V (LM385-1.2), fixed 2.5V (LM385-2.5), and adjustable output (LM385-ARJ), with standard package options including TO-92, SOT-23, and SOP8.
Features
- ±4mV (±0.3%) maximum initial tolerance (Grade A)
- Operating current range: 10μA~20mA
- 0.6Ω maximum dynamic impedance (Grade A)
- Low temperature coefficient
