Introduction
XPS3502 is a highly integrated mixed-signal, analog voltage output capacitive sensor signal conditioner designed for automotive pressure sensors as well as industrial and process pressure control applications. The device features amplification, calibration, temperature compensation, and nonlinearity compensation to achieve the inherent repeatability of sensor measurements. It employs a proprietary 24-bit DSP and an integrated 16-bit DAC for digital correction. Flexible nonlinearity signal processing via the DSP, combined with DAC-based offset and span calibration, ensures interchangeability across sensor products. The XPS3502 architecture includes a programmable sensor excitation source, a 4-gain-step PGA, a 20-bit ADC for signal conversion, 512 bytes of internal MTP, a DSP module, a 16-bit DAC, and a built-in temperature sensor. An external temperature sensor interface is also provided for remote monitoring and signal processing. The device is calibrated using a coefficient compensation algorithm, enabling flexible adaptation to sensors with varying characteristics. It supports up to 3rd-order temperature drift calibration and up to 3rd-order nonlinearity calibration for sensor zero point and sensitivity. XPS3502 supports both ratiometric and fixed reference voltage operating modes, with programmable output clamping on the analog output to prevent overshoot. Additional features include overvoltage protection, JFET high-voltage supply or direct high-voltage supply, analog voltage output, and sensor diagnostics. XPS3502 is available in 10-pin or 16-pin packages, covering commercial, industrial, and automotive temperature ranges. A customer-side calibration system is also available. The device supports I²C and DIO single-wire communication to meet the interface requirements of the majority of customer applications, and DIO bus communication support facilitates high-volume production calibration.
