Introduction
The MAX96793 GMSL serializer receives video through a MIPI CSI-2 interface and outputs it to a GMSL2 or GMSL3 serial link transceiver. It simultaneously transmits and receives bidirectional control channel data over the same GMSL link. GMSL2 or GMSL3 data can be transmitted via coaxial cable or shielded twisted pair (STP). The GMSL2 link operates in the forward direction at a fixed rate of 3Gbps or 6Gbps, and in the reverse direction at a fixed rate of 187.5Mbps. The GMSL3 link operates in the forward direction at a fixed rate of 12Gbps, and in the reverse direction at a fixed rate of 187.5Mbps. The device can be programmed via a local I²C/UART interface or over the link from a matched deserializer. The MAX96793 includes two I²C/UART pass-through channels, flexible GPIO, SPI tunneling, a built-in ADC, a temperature sensor, and an extensive set of functional safety diagnostic features. The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +105°C and is compliant with AEC-Q100 Grade 2. Data can be transmitted over low-cost 50Ω coaxial cable or 100Ω STP that meets GMSL3 or GMSL2 channel specifications. Contact the manufacturer for GMSL3 or GMSL2 channel specifications.
