Introduction
High-current inrush current limiters absorb large amounts of inrush current by providing high resistance when electrical equipment is switched on. Once steady-state current begins to flow through the thermistor, its resistance drops rapidly. In switching power supplies, transient inrush energy is caused by large-capacity input filter capacitors and AC input voltage. During energy absorption, the thermistor's initially high resistance drops to a negligible value within a few milliseconds, allowing high levels of steady-state current to flow with minimal circuit power dissipation.
