Introduction
A Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) normally maintains a high insulation resistance state, equivalent to an open circuit, with virtually no effect on normal circuit operation. When a transient overvoltage occurs in the circuit and its amplitude exceeds the GDT's breakdown voltage, the internal gas ionizes, causing the GDT to conduct rapidly and clamp the overvoltage to a lower level, thereby protecting electronic equipment or circuit components connected in parallel from high-voltage damage. Once the overvoltage subsides, the GDT immediately returns to its high insulation resistance state and normal circuit operation resumes. The 2R600-29H-LM8 is a GDT with follow current interruption capability, manufactured using advanced processes and high-quality materials, offering excellent durability and reliability. In AC power supplies, it demonstrates superior follow current interruption capability. The maximum continuous operating voltage must be limited to within the Uc value (see Electrical Characteristics) and the follow current must be limited to within the If value (see Electrical Characteristics), so that the GDT can extinguish the arc normally during surge decay. Otherwise, the GDT may overheat and ignite adjacent components.
