Introduction
TP4054 is a linear charger for single-cell rechargeable lithium batteries, supporting constant-current and constant-voltage charging. Its compact SOT package and minimal external component requirements make it an ideal choice for portable applications powered by USB or AC adapters. The device integrates an internal MOSFET structure and reverse-current protection circuit, eliminating the need for external sense resistors and isolation diodes. A thermal feedback mechanism regulates the charge current to limit die temperature during high-power operation or in high-ambient-temperature environments. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current can be programmed via an external resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value, the charging process terminates automatically. When the input power source is removed, the device automatically enters a low-current standby state, in which the battery leakage current is less than 2μA. It can also be placed in shutdown mode, reducing the supply current to 50μA.
