Introduction
The DS1307 serial real-time clock is a low-power, BCD clock/calendar chip with 56 bytes of non-volatile SRAM. Address and data are transferred serially via the I²C interface. The clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. End-of-month dates are automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, with leap year correction included. The clock format supports either 24-hour or 12-hour mode with AM/PM indication. The DS1307 features an integrated power-sense circuit that automatically switches to backup power supply when primary power fails, maintaining timekeeping operation.
