Introduction
The AD8226 is a low cost, wide supply range instrumentation amplifier that requires only one external resistor to set gains from 1 to 1000.
It is designed to work across a wide range of signal voltages. The wide input range and rail-to-rail output allow signals to make full use of the supply rails. Because the input range extends below the negative supply, small signals near ground can be amplified without the need for a dual supply. The device operates from ±1.35 V to ±18 V dual supplies or a 2.2 V to 36 V single supply.
The robust AD8226 input is designed to interface with real-world sensors. In addition to its wide operating voltage range, it can handle voltages beyond the supply rails. For example, when powered from ±5 V supplies, voltages up to ±35 V at the inputs are guaranteed not to damage the device. The minimum and maximum input bias current specifications facilitate open-circuit fault detection.
The AD8226 is well suited for multichannel, space-constrained industrial applications. Unlike other low cost, low power instrumentation amplifiers, this device has a minimum gain of 1 and can easily handle ±10 V signals. The MSOP package and 125°C temperature rating make it ideal for highly compact, densely packed designs.
The AD8226 is available in 8-lead MSOP and SOIC packages, rated for operation over the −40°C to +125°C temperature range.
