Introduction
The ATLS1A103 is a low-noise, constant-current 1A driver designed for driving diode lasers. With a 5V supply, the output voltage range is 0.4V to V_VPS - 1V. When the maximum power dissipation of the driver is less than 1W, no heat sink is required. The controller features a temperature compensation network that maintains stable output current even as the controller temperature rises. If the driver temperature exceeds the preset limit of 120°C, the controller will automatically shut down to prevent damage caused by overheating. The output current of the ATLS1A103 can be set linearly via input voltage, or modulated by an external large-signal modulation with 1MHz bandwidth, which results in a minimum rise and fall time of 170nS for large-signal output current transitions. The built-in high-stability, low-noise 2.5V reference voltage can be used to set the output current, and can also serve as a reference voltage for external ADC and/or DAC to convert analog signals — such as the LIO pin indicating output current — to digital signals, or to convert digital signals to analog signals for setting analog voltages, such as LIS for setting the output current. The ATLS1A103 adopts a hexahedral metal case package that shields against EMI, preventing interference between the controller and other electronic components. This laser driver can be evaluated using the evaluation board ATLS1A103DEV1.0. Two package options are available: DIP and SMT.
