Introduction
SC963X is a differential Hall-effect sensor IC featuring two independent channels that provide quadrature digital outputs. The device offers high sensitivity, stable temperature characteristics, and excellent symmetry, ensuring a stable duty cycle for each output channel across the full operating temperature range. Two sets of differential Hall plates are integrated on-chip; each set detects the differential magnetic field generated by a rotating ring magnet or ferromagnetic target wheel. The signals are processed by internal filters and comparators before being output as digital signals. Due to a specific physical phase offset between the two sets of Hall plates, the two output signals are in quadrature. Each digital output can be used for speed detection, while the phase relationship between the A and B outputs is used to determine the direction of rotation. To accommodate different tooth pitches (pole widths) and achieve ideal quadrature output, SC963X offers three internal Hall plate pitch options, corresponding to the following part numbers: SC9632VB-BK (2.1 mm), SC9633VB-BK (1.2 mm), and SC9634VB-BK (1.8 mm). The IC is housed in a TO-94 package with a matte tin-plated finish and is manufactured using halogen-free, environmentally friendly materials.
