SN75LBC184 is a high-speed transceiver for RS-485/RS-422 half-duplex communication, integrating one driver and one receiver. It features ±15kV human body model ESD protection and a fail-safe circuit that ensures a logic-high output at the receiver when the receiver input is open or shorted. If all drivers connected to a terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver will output a logic high. The SN75LBC184 incorporates a slew-rate-limited driver to reduce EMI and reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500Kbps. In addition, the SN75LBC184 receiver features 1/8 unit load input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus, and operates over a temperature range of -20°C to 85°C.
