Introduction
Broadcom AEAT-8800-Q24 is a magnetic rotary angle sensor that provides precise angle measurement over a full 360-degree rotation range. It is a sophisticated system integrating Hall sensor elements along with complex analog and digital signal processing within a single device. A simple dipole magnet placed perpendicular to and aligned with the center of the device generates the necessary magnetic field as it rotates. The device is a versatile solution capable of supporting a wide range of applications through its robust architecture, measuring and providing absolute and incremental signals. Angle measurement instantly indicates the angular position of the magnet, with one-time programmable resolution options of 10-bit, 12-bit, 14-bit, or 16-bit. Once selected, position data is represented digitally and can be read via the standard 3-wire SSI communication protocol. Users may also opt to receive angular position in the form of a PWM-encoded output signal. Incremental position is indicated via ABI and UVW signals, where ABI signals offer user-configurable counts per revolution of 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, and 4096, and UVW commutation signals support 1 to 8 pole pairs. An internal voltage regulator allows the AEAT-8800-Q24 to operate from a 3.3V or 5V supply.
