This large (30mm diameter) piezo element comes in a sturdy package with mounting holes for easy installation. A piezo element can convert vibration into voltage, or voltage into vibration. This means you can use it as a buzzer to produce beeps, tones, and alarms, or as a sensor to detect rapid movements such as knocks. You can also place it under a drum pad to use as a drum/cymbal sensor. It is rated up to 12Vₚ₋ₚ, but you can also drive it with a 3V or 5V square wave at sufficient volume. The element comes with thin wires that we have inserted into a solderless breadboard, though these wires may be too thin to plug directly into Arduino header pins.
