The BQ79612-Q1, BQ79614-Q1, and BQ79616-Q1 can provide high-precision battery voltage measurements for 12S, 14S, and 16S battery modules in high-voltage battery management systems for HEV/EV in less than 200 μs. This series of monitors offers different channel options in the same package type, while providing pin-to-pin compatibility and supporting high reuse of existing software and hardware on any platform. With the integrated front-end filter, a simple, low-rated voltage differential RC filter can be used on the battery input channels to implement the system. The integrated post-ADC low-pass filter can perform filtered, DC-like voltage measurements for better state-of-charge (SOC) calculation. This device supports autonomous internal battery balancing and automatically pauses and resumes balancing by monitoring temperature to avoid overheating conditions. The included isolated bidirectional daisy-chain port supports isolation via capacitors and transformers and allows the use of the most effective components to implement the centralized or distributed architectures common in xEV powertrain systems. This device also includes eight GPIO or auxiliary inputs for external thermistor measurements. Host communication with the BQ7961x-Q1 series devices can be connected via the device's dedicated UART interface or the communication bridge device BQ79600. Additionally, the isolated differential daisy-chain communication interface allows the host to communicate with the entire battery pack through a single interface. In the event of a communication line interruption, the daisy-chain communication interface can be configured as a ring architecture, allowing the host to communicate with devices at both ends of the stack.
