Introduction
ATS19480 is a giant magnetoresistance (GMR) IC that provides a user-friendly two-wire solution for applications using ferromagnetic gear tooth targets that require speed information. The fully integrated package contains a GMR IC, a protection capacitor for enhanced EMC, and a back-bias magnet in a single inline package. The GMR-based IC is designed for use with ferromagnetic gear tooth targets and is orientation-compatible with Hall-effect technology. This fully integrated solution enables sensing over large working air gaps and a wide range of air gap variations. Advanced GMR technology on a monolithic IC combined with signal processing responds to low-level differential magnetic signals to deliver accurate speed information. Differential sensing inherently suppresses interfering common-mode magnetic fields. Integrated diagnostic functions detect IC faults that could affect output protocol accuracy, providing ASIL B-compatible coverage (evaluation pending). Built-in EEPROM scratch memory enables device traceability throughout the IC's entire product lifecycle. ASIL reporting can be enabled or disabled based on application requirements. The ATS19480 is available in a lead-free (Pb) 3-pin SIP package with a tin-plated lead frame. The SN package integrates the GMR IC, magnet, and capacitor in a single injection-molded housing with an additional molded pin stabilizer bar for ease of shipping and assembly.
