Introduction
The FXPQ3115BVS is a compact piezoresistive pressure sensor with an I²C digital interface. It operates over a wide range of 20 kPa to 110 kPa. The sensor is well suited for inhalers, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) masks, or other medical devices that come into contact with a patient's airway. The MEMS and ASIC dies are coated with a biomedically certified gel. This gel is a non-toxic, non-allergenic elastomer that complies with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Biological Test Class VI requirements. The gel properties allow uniform pressure transmission to the MEMS diaphragm. A high-resolution ADC provides fully compensated and digitized outputs for pressure (in Pascals) and temperature (in degrees Celsius). The compensated output can be either barometric pressure in Pascals or altitude in meters. The internal processing of the FXPQ3115BVS offloads compensation and unit conversion from the system MCU, simplifying system design. The advanced ASIC of the FXPQ3115BVS features multiple user-programmable modes, including power saving, interrupt, and autonomous data acquisition modes, with programmable acquisition cycle timing and polling-only mode. Typical active supply current is 40 μA per measurement cycle.
