Introduction
The MAX6505–MAX6508 temperature switches feature dual logic outputs that assert when the die temperature exceeds their trip thresholds. Trip thresholds are factory-programmed at convenient temperatures in 5°C increments.
The MAX6505/MAX6506 provide an ALARM output that asserts when the temperature exceeds a factory-programmed threshold (selectable from -40°C to +125°C). They also provide a WARN output that asserts when the temperature falls a few degrees below the ALARM threshold. The difference between the ALARM and WARN thresholds (ΔTAW) is pin-selectable as +5°C, +10°C, +20°C, or +30°C. The MAX6505 features open-drain logic outputs, while the MAX6506 features push-pull logic outputs.
The MAX6507 provides open-drain outputs (OVER, OK), and the MAX6508 provides push-pull outputs (OVER, OK), each with two factory-programmed threshold temperatures (TOVER and TUNDER) across a wide range of -40°C to +125°C. The over-temperature output asserts when the temperature exceeds TOVER. The OK output asserts when the temperature is within the desired window (below TOVER and above TUNDER).
The MAX6505–MAX6508 offer ±0.5°C accuracy (typical) and ±5.5°C (maximum). These low-cost devices operate from a +2.5V to +5.5V supply, typically draw 30μA of supply current, and require no external components to set the trip point. The MAX6505–MAX6508 are available in 6-pin SOT23 packages.
