Introduction
The LM61440 is a high-performance DC/DC synchronous buck converter. The device features integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs, capable of delivering up to 4A output current over a wide input voltage range of 3.0V to 36V, with 42V transient tolerance to simplify input inrush protection design. The LM61440 provides soft recovery from dropout, eliminating output overshoot.
The LM61440 is specifically designed for low EMI. The device features adjustable SW node rise time and low EMI, and comes in a VQFN-HR package with low switching node ringing and an easy-to-use, optimized pin layout. The switching frequency can be set or synchronized in the range of 200kHz to 2.2MHz to avoid noise-sensitive frequency bands. Additionally, the frequency can be selected to improve efficiency at lower operating frequencies or reduce solution size at higher operating frequencies.
Auto mode enables frequency foldback during light-load operation, achieving a no-load quiescent current of only 7µA (typical) and high light-load efficiency. Seamless transitions between PWM and PFM modes, combined with ultra-low MOSFET on-resistance and an external bias input, ensure excellent efficiency across the full load range.
