Introduction
The LM74700-Q1 is an ideal diode controller compliant with the automotive AEC Q100 standard. It works in conjunction with an external N-channel MOSFET and can function as an ideal diode rectifier to achieve low-loss reverse protection with a 20mV forward voltage drop. The wide power supply input range of 3.2V to 65V enables control of many commonly used DC bus voltages (e.g., 12V, 24V, and 48V automotive battery systems). The 3.2V input voltage support meets the stringent cold-start requirements in automotive systems. The device can withstand negative supply voltages as low as –65V and provides load protection. The device regulates the forward voltage drop to 20mV by controlling the gate of the MOSFET. This current regulation scheme supports smooth shutdown during reverse current events and ensures zero DC reverse current. The device can respond rapidly (<0.75µs) to reverse current blocking, making it suitable for systems that require maintaining the output voltage during ISO7637 pulse tests, power failures, and input micro-short circuit conditions. The LM74700-Q1 controller provides a charge pump gate driver for the external N-channel MOSFET. The high voltage rating of the LM74700-Q1 helps simplify the system design for automotive ISO7637 protection. When the enable pin is at a low level, the controller turns off and consumes approximately 1µA of current.
