Introduction
ME4057-N is a single-cell lithium-ion battery constant voltage/constant current charge management IC with a 9V withstand voltage and a maximum charging current of 1.3A. Since linear chargers generate significant heat under large input-output voltage differentials, the IC incorporates an internal thermal feedback circuit to regulate chip temperature during charging by reducing the charging current to a lower level, accommodating the system's thermal dissipation requirements. The SOP8 package with an exposed thermal PAD, combined with minimal external components, makes it an ideal choice for portable applications.
ME4057-N requires no current sense resistor and no external blocking diode for reverse-current protection. The charge termination voltage is fixed at 4.2V / 4.34V / 4.4V, and the charging current is adjustable via an external resistor. When the charging current drops to 1/10 of the constant-current value, ME4057-N terminates the charging process.
When the input voltage (adapter or USB) is removed, ME4057-N enters sleep mode. The internal charge path is automatically shut down and the input voltage drops. In this state, the battery leakage current is reduced to below 2µA. When ME4057-N is powered but the battery is removed, the IC current is reduced to 55µA to minimize system power loss.
ME4057-N also features battery temperature sensing, input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two charge status indicator pins.
