Introduction
The INAx191 is a low-power, voltage-output, current shunt monitor (also known as a current sense amplifier) commonly used for overcurrent protection and precision current measurement (for system optimization), and can also be used in closed-loop feedback circuits. The device senses the voltage drop across a shunt resistor at common-mode voltages from –0.2V to +40V, independent of the supply voltage. The low input bias current of the INAx191 allows the use of larger current sense resistors, enabling precise current measurements at the μA level. Five fixed gains are available: 25V/V, 50V/V, 100V/V, 200V/V, or 500V/V. The zero-drift architecture's low offset voltage extends the dynamic range of current measurement and allows the use of smaller sense resistors with lower power loss while still providing accurate current measurement. The INA191 operates from a 1.7V to 5.5V single supply, consuming a maximum supply current of 65μA when enabled and only 100nA when disabled. The device is rated for an operating temperature range of –40°C to +125°C and is available in DSBGA-6 (INA191) and DSBGA-12 (INA2191) packages.
