Introduction
XPD930 is a multi-protocol port controller integrating USB Type-C, USB Power Delivery (PD) 2.0/3.0 with PPS, QC3.0/2.0 CLASS A, Huawei FCP/SCP, Samsung AFC, BC1.2 DCP, and Apple 2.4A charging protocols. XPD930 supports XPD-LINK™ multi-chip interconnect patent technology, enabling inter-chip communication via bus interconnection. Leveraging this unique interconnect technology, XPD930 can be flexibly deployed in multi-port USB charging devices, providing a compact and cost-effective solution for multi-port chargers. The built-in Type-C protocol supports automatic system wake-up upon Type-C device insertion, intelligent plug orientation detection, and connection establishment. The integrated Type-C PD3.0 protocol supports Biphase Mark Coding (BMC) with a hardware-integrated PHY layer and protocol engine, requiring no software involvement in encoding/decoding. XPD930 supports up to 65W output power. Advertised PDO voltages are configurable as 5V/9V/12V/15V/20V. Two APDO voltage rails can be selected from 5V Prog/9V Prog/15V Prog/20V Prog, with flexible APDO voltage range configuration. XPD930 implements dynamic voltage regulation by connecting a bidirectional Sink/Source current source to the feedback pin of an AC-DC or DC-DC converter, with soft-start functionality during both startup and voltage adjustment to ensure smooth voltage transitions. XPD930 integrates an internal CC loop control that effectively manages total current under shared power supply, relieving front-end power stress. XPD930 supports secondary programming for online firmware upgrades. XPD930 incorporates multiple built-in protection mechanisms to ensure device safety: dynamic OVP/UVP/OCP (protection thresholds scale proportionally with the device-requested operating voltage/current); startup monitoring (port voltage safety check before VBUS output); and DP/DM and CC1/CC2 overvoltage protection. XPD930 integrates a 10mΩ VBUS path power switch, dual discharge paths, and a constant voltage control loop, enabling faster output shutdown and recovery to a safe state upon fault conditions. XPD930 is available in TSSOP20 and QFN4×4-20 packages, operating without additional external components for optimized BOM cost and straightforward USB PD certification compliance.
