Introduction
TI MSP series ultra-low-power microcontrollers come in a wide variety, with each member device equipped with different peripheral sets to meet the needs of various applications. This architecture, when used in conjunction with multiple low-power modes, is the optimal choice for extending the battery life of portable measurement applications. The device features a powerful 16-bit Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) Central Processing Unit (CPU) that uses 16-bit registers and a constant generator for maximum coding efficiency. The Digitally Controlled Oscillator (DCO) can wake up from a low-power mode to an active mode in 3µs (typical).
MSP430F673x and MSP430F672x have up to three high-performance 24-bit Σ-Δ ADCs, one 10-bit ADC, four enhanced universal serial communication interfaces (three eUSCI_A modules and one eUSCI_B module), four 16-bit timers, one hardware multiplier, one DMA module, one RTC module with alarm function, one integrated LCD driver with integrated contrast control, and one auxiliary power supply system; the 100-pin device has up to 72 I/O pins, while the 80-pin device has up to 52 I/O pins.
