The TPS20xxC and TPS20xxC-2 dual power distribution switch series are designed for applications such as USB that may encounter high capacitive loads and short circuits. This series provides multiple devices with fixed current limit thresholds for applications with currents between 0.5A and 2A.

When the output load exceeds the current limit threshold, the TPS20xxC and TPS20xxC-2 limit the output current to a safe level by operating in constant current mode. This provides a predictable fault current under all conditions. When the output is short-circuited, the fast overload response time reduces the burden on the main 5V supply to regulate power. To significantly reduce current surges during turn-on and turn-off, the rise and fall of the power switch are controlled.

The TPS20xxC and TPS20xxC-2 dual are current-limited, power-distribution switches providing between 0.5 A and 2 A of continuous load current in 5-V circuits. These parts use N-channel MOSFETs for low resistance, maintaining output voltage load regulation. They are designed for applications where short circuits or heavy capacitive loads are encountered. Device features include UVLO, ON/OFF control (Enable), reverse blocking when disabled, output discharge when TPS20xxC disabled, overcurrent protection, overtemperature protection, and deglitched fault reporting. They are pin for pin with existing TI Switch Portfolio.
