Introduction
The ADS1299-4, ADS1299-6, and ADS1299 are a family of 4-channel, 6-channel, and 8-channel low-noise, 24-bit simultaneous sampling Δ-Σ ADCs. The family integrates a PGA, internal reference, and on-board oscillator. The ADS1299-x incorporates all the features commonly required in extracranial EEG and ECG applications. With high integration and excellent performance, the ADS1299-x enables scalable medical instrumentation systems with significantly reduced size, power consumption, and overall cost. Each channel of the ADS1299-x features a flexible input multiplexer that can be independently connected to internally generated signals for test, temperature, and lead-off detection. Any configuration of input channels can be selected to generate the patient bias output signal. Optional SRB pins are provided to route a common signal to multiple inputs in a referential montage configuration. The ADS1299-x operates at data rates from 250 SPS to 16 kSPS. Lead-off detection can be implemented on-chip via excitation current sinks/sources. Multiple ADS1299-4, ADS1299-6, or ADS1299 devices can be daisy-chained in systems requiring more channels. The ADS1299-x is offered in a TQFP-64 package and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
