Introduction
The INA239 is an ultra-precise digital power monitor featuring a 16-bit Δ-Σ ADC designed for current sensing applications. The device measures ±163.84mV or ±40.96mV full-scale differential input across a resistive shunt sensing element with a common-mode voltage support range of -0.3V to +85V. The INA239 reports current, bus voltage, temperature, and power while performing the required calculations in the background. The integrated temperature sensor provides ±1°C accuracy for die temperature measurement and can be used to monitor system ambient temperature. The INA239 features low temperature drift and gain drift design, enabling use in precision systems without multi-temperature calibration during manufacturing. In addition, the very low offset voltage and noise allow use in sensing applications from A to kA, providing a wide dynamic range across the sense shunt element without significant power loss. The device's low input bias current allows the use of larger current sense resistors, enabling accurate current measurements at the microamp level. The device allows selection of ADC conversion times from 50μs to 4.12ms and sampling averages from 1x to 1024x, which helps further reduce noise in measurement data.
