Introduction
The ADS124S06 and ADS124S08 are high-precision 24-bit Δ-Σ ADCs that combine low power consumption with multiple integrated features to reduce system cost and component count in small sensor signal measurement applications. Both ADCs feature a configurable digital filter that provides low-latency conversion results and 50Hz or 60Hz noise rejection in noisy industrial environments. The PGA offers low-noise performance with selectable gains from 1 to 128, enabling amplification of low-level signals in resistive bridge or thermocouple applications. Additionally, both devices integrate a low-drift 2.5V voltage reference to minimize PCB area. Two programmable IDACs are also included for accurate RTD biasing. The input multiplexer supports 12 inputs for the ADS124S08 and 6 inputs for the ADS124S06. These inputs can be connected to the ADC in any combination, enhancing design flexibility. Both devices also include sensor burn-out detection, thermocouple voltage biasing, system monitoring functions, and four general-purpose I/Os. Both devices are available in an ultra-thin VQFN-32 or TQFP-32 package.
