Introduction
The ADS7128 is an easy-to-use 8-channel multiplexed 12-bit successive approximation register analog-to-digital converter (SAR ADC). The 8 channels can be independently configured as analog inputs, digital inputs, or digital outputs. The device features an internal oscillator for performing the ADC conversion process. The ADS7128 communicates via an I²C-compatible interface and can operate in autonomous or single-shot conversion modes. The ADS7128 implements analog monitoring functions through per-channel event-triggered interrupts using a digital window comparator with programmable high and low thresholds, hysteresis, and an event counter. The ADS7128 has a built-in cyclic redundancy check (CRC) function for data read/write operations and power-on configuration. The ADS7128 features a root mean square (RMS) module that can calculate 16-bit true RMS results for any analog input channel. The integrated zero-crossing detection (ZCD) module can trigger transient suppression and hysteresis when approaching the configurable threshold.
