Introduction
The TMP468 is a multi-zone, high-accuracy, low-power temperature sensor featuring a two-wire SMBus or I²C compatible interface. In addition to the local temperature, it can simultaneously monitor up to eight remote diode-connected temperature zones. Consolidating temperature measurements across a system improves performance by narrowing protection bands and reduces board complexity. Typical use cases include monitoring the temperatures of multiple processors — such as MCUs, GPUs, and FPGAs — in complex systems like servers and telecommunications equipment. The device combines advanced features such as series resistance cancellation, programmable non-ideality factor, programmable offset, and programmable temperature limits, delivering a robust temperature monitoring solution with enhanced accuracy and noise immunity.
All eight remote channels (as well as the local channel) can be independently programmed with two threshold values that trigger when the measured temperature at the respective location exceeds the corresponding limit. Programmable hysteresis is also available to prevent threshold toggling.
The TMP468 provides high measurement accuracy (0.75°C) and resolution (0.0625°C). It also supports low supply voltages (1.7V to 3.6V) and a universal two-wire interface, and is available in compact, space-efficient packages (3mm × 3mm or 1.6mm × 1.6mm) for easy integration into computing systems. The remote junction supports a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C.
