Introduction
The characteristics of this device are almost the same as those of the UCC28063, except that the open/short-circuit fault detection feature of the TSET pin and the open-circuit fault detection feature of the CS pin are removed. In some applications, when fast transients, surges, or pulse noises occur on the AC power supply, a large amount of voltage noise is coupled to the TSET or CS pins. Removing the above two fault detection features can improve the noise suppression performance, thus providing stronger "tolerance" for such applications. This solution is optimized for the requirements of consumer applications in audible noise suppression. It not only retains the two advantages of high efficiency and low component cost in the transition mode but also increases the rated power. With the Natural Interleaving TM technology, both channels can operate as master channels (i.e., there is no slave channel), and the two channels are synchronized to the same frequency. This solution itself can provide a high degree of matching and fast response and ensure that each channel operates in the transition mode. The device has extended system-level protection, including input under-voltage and dropout recovery, output over-voltage, open-loop, overload, soft start, phase fault detection, and thermal shutdown protection. The additional fail-safe over-voltage protection (OVP) feature can prevent intermediate voltage short circuits. If such short circuits are not successfully detected, they may lead to catastrophic device failures. The device has advanced non-linear gain, which can provide a fast and smoother response to line and load transient events. Moreover, it has a small bias current, which improves the standby power efficiency. The device also has a special line voltage drop handling feature, which can prevent obvious current interruptions and minimize the generation of audible noise.
