Introduction
The TPS62840 is a high-efficiency step-down converter with an ultra-low operating quiescent current of typically 60 nA. This device features a special circuit that enables an I₀ of only 120 nA in 100% mode, thus further extending battery life at the end of discharge. The device uses DCS-Control technology, which can provide a clean power supply for radios and has a typical switching frequency of 1.8 MHz during operation. In power-saving mode, the device can extend light-load efficiency down to a load current of 1 μA and below. A resistor can be connected to the VSET pin to select from 16 predefined output voltages, so this device can be flexibly used in various applications and minimizes the number of external components. The STOP pin of this device can immediately eliminate all switching noise, enabling noise-free measurements in test and measurement systems. The TPS62840 provides an output current of up to 750 mA. The input voltage of this device ranges from 1.8 V to 6.5 V, supporting a variety of power sources, such as 2 to 4 alkaline batteries, 1 to 2 lithium manganese dioxide (Li - MnO₂) batteries, or 1 lithium-ion/lithium thionyl chloride (Li - SOCl₂) battery.
