Introduction
bq501210 is a wireless power digital controller compliant with Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) v1.2 standard. The device integrates the logic functions required for a WPC-compliant receiver to wirelessly transmit power, with a maximum power delivery of 15W. The bq501210 is also an intelligent device that periodically pings the surrounding environment to search for devices requiring power, detects the presence of foreign metal objects on the charging pad, monitors all communications for devices currently being wirelessly powered, and adjusts the power applied to the transmitter coil based on feedback received from the powered device. The bq501210 also handles fault conditions related to power output and controls the operating mode status indicators. Rather than using conventional frequency control, the bq501210 employs a supply voltage control mechanism to regulate power delivered to the receiver. By negotiating with a High Voltage Dedicated Charging Port (HVDCP) adapter, the bq501210 can optionally provide either 5W WPC low power or 15W medium power. Additionally, fast charging support enables higher power delivery to compatible receivers.
