Introduction
NY8A054E is an 8-bit microcontroller with EPROM memory, specifically designed for multi-channel PWM applications such as lighting control and remote-controlled car applications. Manufactured using CMOS process technology, it delivers significant advantages including low cost, high performance, and excellent price-to-performance ratio. The NY8A054E core is built on a RISC architecture that enables easy programming and control, featuring a total of 55 instructions. Except for a few instructions that require 2 clock cycles, most instructions complete in a single clock cycle, allowing users to easily implement various applications through software control. This makes it well-suited for a wide range of applications requiring medium-to-low memory capacity with complex functionality.
In terms of I/O resources, the NY8A054E provides 14 flexible bidirectional I/O pins, each independently controlled by its own register to configure as either input or output. Every I/O pin also supports additional programmable functions such as pull-up or pull-down resistors and Open-Drain output. Furthermore, for infrared remote control applications, the NY8A054E integrates a built-in infrared carrier transmitter with selectable frequency output.
The NY8A054E features three timer modules, which can be used for general timing based on the system clock or configured to count from external signal triggers. In addition, the NY8A054E provides 5 channels of 10-bit resolution PWM output and 1 buzzer output, capable of driving motors, LEDs, buzzers, and more.
The NY8A054E adopts a dual-clock mechanism, where both the high-speed oscillator and low-speed oscillator can independently select either the internal RC oscillator or an external crystal input. Under the dual-clock mechanism, the NY8A054E supports multiple operating modes — Normal mode, Slow mode, Standby mode, and Halt mode — to reduce power consumption and extend battery life. When using the internal RC high-speed oscillator, the low-speed oscillator can simultaneously use an external precision crystal for timekeeping, maintaining high-speed processing while enabling accurate real-time calculation.
In power-saving modes such as Standby mode and Halt mode, multiple event sources can trigger interrupts to wake the NY8A054E and resume Normal mode or Slow mode operation for handling asynchronous events.
