Introduction
MBI6656 is a high-efficiency, constant-current, step-down DC-to-DC converter that requires only 5 external components to deliver stable current for high-current LED lighting applications. The Hysteretic PFM mode operation of MBI6656 eliminates the need for additional compensator design, simplifying circuit design. The output current of MBI6656 can be adjusted via external resistors of different resistance values, and PWM dimming control is also supported. In addition, MBI6656 provides analog dimming, allowing users to achieve high-efficiency and high-linearity current output through DC voltage controlled adjustment. MBI6656 also features a comprehensive set of on-chip protection mechanisms. The Start-Up overcurrent protection function limits inrush current generated during power-up. UVLO, thermal protection (TP), and OCP ensure system stability, while LED open-circuit and short-circuit protection prevents device damage under abnormal operating conditions. MBI6656 is currently available in a compact SOT-23-6L package, as well as SOT-89-5L, SOP-8L, and TO-252-5L packages with superior thermal dissipation for user selection.
