SN75176B / SN65176B is a high-speed differential three-state bus/line transceiver designed to meet EIA standard RS-485 requirements, featuring an extended common-mode range (+12V to -7V) for multipoint data transmission. It is also compatible with RS-422. Both driver and receiver outputs are three-state capable, and the driver output operates throughout the full +12V to -7V common-mode range. A thermal shutdown circuit handles bus contention or fault conditions that cause excessive internal power dissipation, forcing the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. DC specifications are guaranteed over a temperature range of -40°C to 105°C and a supply voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V.
